Alright guys I ordered the 2nd gen steering rack bushing over a year ago and have been holding out until someone tried it first. Well I saw a post where the person claimed they heard someone tried it and it worked.

Well I am here to tell you that's a load of crap. I removed my steering rack and cooked those noisy bushings out, cleaned the bore and installed the 2nd gen bushings. Here is where the problem is, you can get the bushings in, however, you cannot press the sleeve in the center. I tried lube, I removed the bushings and baffled the edges, drilled and reamed the bushings with the same result. I do this professionally and have a vast amount of equipment available to me and still could not get this to work. I ended up buying a new steering rack and installing that.

So if you are looking to get rid of that clunk or squeaking noise, my advice to you is either - live with it or spend the money for a new steering rack.
