Anyone have experience with their door speakers alone? If so please chime in on how they are.

    thank you!

To be honest, you only really need the fronts and the tweeters. Very little sound comes out of the rear speakers with the OEM, or the OEM+ systems (if you are running an aftermarket deck, feel free to get the rears as well).

All the speakers themselves are great.

I already did the Subaru tweeters mod. Improvement has been made for sure but still not satisfied lol.

The biggest change is the OEM audio plus Amp, then the second separate amp to serve the sub. Do not get one amp to serve both the speakers and sub, it was not enough for me.

Same, I’m surprised they sell the setup with the separate amp as an option. Sounds terrible without it.

Dang, how on a scale of 1-10 how satisfied were you with the single amp running both the door speakers and sub?

The speakers sounded great, but the sub was 6.5/10 summer, 3/10 winter. My biggest issue was that when it was cold (under 40 degrees), it would take 10-15 minutes for the sub to warm up to where it sounded nice, and by that time I would almost be at the office. Now that I have the separate amp, I can just crank up the gain control a bit when it's cold and it warms up the sub much much quicker. You might not have that issue in your location.

I do have somewhat cold winters but summers are always hot where i reside. It is a turn off though that the amp needs to heat up.

It's the sub that needs to heat up. I notice it when temp is under 50f, and it is really slow when it's under 30f. But when you have the separate amp with gain control, bump up the gain a bit and it plays normally.

I really enjoy it. I have the dual sub with separate amp upgrade now, but got it because it wasn't a huge cost increase at the time over just the separate sub amp (and nearly the same amount of work to install). I don't think the dual sub is necessary, but the separate amp definitely is.
They are 8" subs. they will not get low like a 12. but they sound fantastic and are very "musical" (they keep up to any music).
The better quality the source, the better they sound. Listening off CD or high quality MP3 is great. Super clean, powerful, nice depth, great soundstage... it really is only lacking in the low end because of the 8" subs (but they do sound great for 8's). I don't have time to build systems like I did in highschool/college. Does it sound as good as my old pioneer 24bit burr brown DAC'd dehp-880PRS running xtant 100x2 rms amp to kicker SS56.2's and an old orion HCCA250 running a 12" IDMAX? No, but keeping the stock head unit, I doubt you could do much better. Everything fits together like factory. Plus you cant fit an IDmax in a taco...

It was like a 3-4, had no low end at all. Then got the dedicated amp and it was night and day. Now I’m 9-10

Did you experience the temperature issue like the other user was having?

I’m in the Bay Area so doesn’t get super cold. Haven’t had any issues.

Does the multi channel amp come with an adjustable gain knob or something along the lines?

Yea the sub amp has a gain knob. Unless you do sound deadening at about half way it rattles everything in the cab. I keep mine around 1/4 and it’s more than enough low end

Wait so won’t the sub do fine with the single amp then since you can slightly adjust the knob for extra thump?

No, without the dedicated amp, it sounded terrible and when you turned it up the subwoofer sounds distorted. With the amp you get clear bass. You can always try without first and add later, that’s what I ended up doing
