My wife and I just got our first Taco. 2021 TRD OffRoad, Marine Corps Green. We're looking to get into overland camping. We live in Hutto, Tx it's north of Austin. Looking forward to mod'ing our truck, meeting some new people and getting out.

Congrats on your new truck. You have an extremely capable base platform to work with.

First thing I'd do (and did) is dump the factory tires and get a good all terrain tread. I'm happy with my wrangler duratracs, but folks here love the nitto trail grapplers, bfg a/ts, toyo a/ts and any number of other tread patterns.

If you want to buy cool new shit for your truck, before you look into lifts and larger tires, just buy a set of good rock rails for a grand. Those, with a careful consideration to your offroad lines will keep your truck in good shape.

As for the overland mods -- well the sky is literally the limit. So many options to pick and choose from. My only recommendation would be to spend a bit of money to protect the underside, and then go nuts with the creature comforts. Enjoy your time on the forum. You'll find countless recommendations for mods and upgrades, and you'll get to listen to many of us argue against them for better ones.
