Saw this on I-5 just south of down town PDX and from what I can tell this is a 1998 Land Cruiser XZ which comes with a 4.0L diesel and I can't find any info on these ever being sold in the U.S. Some lucky bastard probably had it shipped here from Pakistan or India. I bet its a wheeling machine. I want one!

With a turbo diesel yet. And dont get me started on why Toyota fails to provide a turbo in the states.
Chevy, Ford, Dodge, VW, Mercedes, Audi etc all have a diesel option. Thats really the main reason I'm considering importing. That and to get a unique Cruiser.

That's a prado, no idea why it says ZX on it.

We have Prado's they just call them FJ/4runner/GX in north america.

They only had smaller diesels, which were torquey but heavy and sluggish.

If any true LC guys want to chip in please correct me if I'm wrong.

I had one of those and they're great. I had a BJ73, which had the 3B diesel. The 70 series comes in many many styles and engines so do your research. Land Cruisers Direct near St. Louis is a very honest company and they import these all the time from Japan. Most are indeed RHD trucks - this may or may not be an issue for your insurance. I'd check it out first.
