Nitto Ridge 116Q ?

I was looking for a set of tires, one of my favorite is the Nitto Ridge Grappler. My last set was 285/75/17’s C rated, quite heavy.

I’m looking at the 285/70/17 116Q in the Ridge grappler. I don’t tow and 97% of my drive is paved roads, 2% sand & 1% off road rock/dirt.

Would this be a suitable tire for a Tacoma under these driving conditions?

 

I ran the Terra Grappler G2 in similar specs as a daily tire to keep town miles off my off-road tires. They were great on road and handled the small amount of dirt I threw at them pretty well. Just be aware that you are giving up thread depth in the lighter version and it won’t be as tough as the C load version.

 

The sidewalls always look dainty with standard load all terrains, but they will do you fine for sure.

 

Yeah, I seen the tread depth difference. I’ve got a decent price match quote from DT and I usually replace tires within 30K or less. My real concerns were durability.

 

These should work very well, the Ridge grappler is an A/T-M/T hybrid so it has characteristics such as chip and chunk resistance compounds as well as decent on road capability. The only thing you lose going to a Standard Load is the load carry capacity and reinforced carcass, neither of which it seems like you will need. PM on the way

 

Would this tire be considered a C rated tire ?

 

My apologies, I had made the assumption that you were looking at the Standard load version as it is a 116 Load index. The Ridge Grappler in this size is available in Standard load, C rated and E rated. If 97% of your travel is on paved surfaces, the Standard load should work well.
