What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I had the same issue with support for my 70 lb lab but I used a 1/2" x 1/2" x 4' long steel shelving wall bracket.

 

did you buy that? have to cyt it to size? I'm brand spanking new to power tools, hardware stores, and DIY, so I'm completely green, lol.

 

Where did you get the HPDE from?

I have used the search function until my eyes bleed but I cannot figure this out for the life of me. Head is spinning!

Trying to run grille lights to a cab switch (CH 4x4 with the 4 wires Red/Red/Green/Black). Want them switch operated instead of on all the time or whenever my lights are on.

Relay? Add-A-Fuse? Both? Any diagram/explanation will be greatly appreciated! I am admittedly an electric noob. I popped the lights into the grille, connected the wires, grounded one and have tried everything with the power wire and switch wires! Thanks TW!

 

Nothing major, just the cosmetic addition. I’ve begun the slow process of blacking out the MGM.

I once owned a Kenworth W900b Aerodyne. It truly was one hell of a truck. I was so, so proud of it that I washed it and the engine regularly. Over time, what I found from that experience was compromised seals and gaskets. Oil leaks. Compromised electrical connections. Shorts and trouble shooting often.

I just retired my 2003 Ford F150 FX4 after 17 trouble-free years and 252,000 miles. I never washed the engine once.

My new Tacoma will look great inside and out, but I'll let the engine be.

 

If it's 4 LED's only, you can likely get by without a relay but you will need to source ignition switched power from somewhere. Often that can be done via add-a-fuse. The reason to use a relay is to avoid sending high current through the switch but 4 led's is not high current, should be well under 1amp. Now if you want to do it right, go ahead and use the relay.

For that switch, one pair of wires is illumination + and - and the other two are closed when it's pushed in and open (disconnected) when it's out.

So, you make a circuit from add a fuse to switch to leds to ground and the switch opens/closes the circuit. Then optionally you can connect illumination to a parking light lead and ground to ground or ground to dimmed ground (which is a little harder to source).

Probably best to spin off a separate thread, perhaps it can be your build thread and one of us can help you out with this in a more step-by-step fashion? There are many electrical experts here who I ask all sorts of questions of and who happily give their time. Or I can try to help via DM but then you're stuck getting input from only one source and that's always less optimal than peer reviewed work.

 

Installed the demello aluminum bumper the other night. This bumper probably weights like 30-40 lbs. not even joking how stupid light it is. Had zero effect on my front suspension

Mine is 3 years old now and no rust! Love having one key for almost everything (almost).
I do use Amsoil MP metal protector religiously and every thing it touches still looks brand new.
I use the Heavy Duty MP for chassis and underhood areas (it is a thick corrosion inhibiting compound - it's not for looks, but for extreme protection).

 

Had the safety recall (20TA02) done today at the stealership.

Nope, built it myself. Started with 1/2" sheet of plywood and cut it to size. Then I nailed 1/4 round in the front and back to prevent my lab from sliding off. Next was screwing the 1/2" x 1/2" steel bar underneath to keep the plywood from bending. Then covered it with laminate flooring foam underlay spray glued to the wood and the blue vinyl again spray glued to the foam and stapled down on the backside. Note, the support bracket in the middle did not do the job so that is why I installed the folding shelf brackets instead.

 

Yes, sir! It plugs directly into the OEM harness. Plus, they provide longer wires to make it easier to hook up as the wires for the heated feature are very short
