My phone and other electronics charge but very slowly. I am heading across country in two weeks. Any suggestions? I don't really have a lot of time due to work. That and I have new Spyder headlights, OEM Fogs and new topper yet to install. It will be a busy weekend.

Buy a small inverter. That’s what I did when charging anything with a 110 plug or want more than the slow usb plug they give you. Works good.

If the laptop has a 12v adapter use that. If not, get an inverter. I've had the same 200w inverter for about a decade now.

I just use USB 12v plug in and USB cable and keep things plugged in and mounted on cradle on RAM mount. And inverter for anything else that needs more juice.

Built in USB (assuming for the stock headunit) will only do 2.5w (500mah @ 5v). Laptop, are you using a specific 12v charger for the laptop? or inverter to standard wall charger?

When you get the USB cigarette port adaptor, make sure you get the 4 amp ones or at least one of the USB plugins has the 4 amp (or something like 30 watt, forget how they are marked), same power supply needed for most tablets not the lower power one generally for iPods and phones.

Thanks everyone. It was a long day at work trying to spray paint outside with a heavy wind advisory. It doesn't help that I am in upstate NY doing this in October. Anyways managed to pick up a small 200w inverter from Tractor Supply. My phone without inverter went from 6 hours for a full charge to 1 hour 10 minutes with inverter. I would say that's a win. I haven't had a chance run navigation, phone, laptop, and radar but will do a test run tomorrow. I already have a large battery/jumper pack and can charge now charge it fast with out a generator. I should be able to watch all the cat videos I want while in the desert or on the road.. Thanks again.

Unless you have a true sine wave inverter it may not charge your laptop. I used to work on law enforcement laptops and I don't know how many laptops were brought to us saying they would not charge. After asking if they were using an inverter the problem was quickly discovered. Test it out at home before leaving on a trip.
