My radio would not turn on (2012 Tacoma with JBL), would just say Audio Off. Display kind of worked but would time out after a few seconds. Dealer wanted $280 to diagnose, stereo shop wanted $900 to replace, and new/old units on ebay were $300 so I decided I cant break it anymore may as well pull it and see what was back there. After pulling it out, I decided to play around with plugs to see if something could be shorting the unit out and I found one plug causing the issue but I am not sure what it does, it seems like everything works just leaving that unplugged. I would like to find another jumper harness to test if it is that, the plug itself on the top unit. Or whatever that plug is running is shorted on the far end? Thanks, Randy

May want to check the fuse box and see if any fuses have blown.. These days radio's are no longer "just radios"

Could be that you have a shorted speaker or failed amplifier and the HU is going into protect. I can’t really tell what’s on they plug by the picture, but if speaker/amp connection runs through it, your problem is likely downstream, not the connector itself.

I played with it a little yesterday and noticed the APP button now says not installed. So I tried looking into that and thought maybe the USB plug was damaged and shorting out the lower box which I believe runs all the apps and Entune stuff. So I pulled the unit unplugged E16 from that picture thinking that might be the USB and the problem put the circled plug in the picture back in the upper unit and it was back to being stuck on Audio Off. So I put it back and everything but the APP button seems to work?
