17 Taco OR. Recently purchased and waiting to install 5.29 gears. (Stock tires but in the works, just to be clear). Just wondering if anyone has used & installed hypertech's speedometer calibrator. Will this allow not only speedometer correction but input the correct or proper gear changes aligned with the correct speed, & ECU fuel/air mixtures. Or am I overthinking?

You don't need any calibration for the speedo for gears. Only tires. The speedo calibration will only do the speedo nothing having to do with engine or transmission management.

Thanks. As I understand now there is no way for the ECU to detect any gear ratio change. Thus lowering gear ratio would limit top speed since ECU detects higher rpms and in 6th gear. I've heard 85-90 mph w/ 5.29 & 33's +/- vs 104 mph top speed @ stock. Not that it should matter, I'm not trying to go into warp speed just curious.

That is correct. But the top speed reduction doesn't happen to every truck.
