I’m thinking 6’ box as well. If you follow the step bar, it seems longer than it would need to be on a 5’.

Idk. Just looked at mine from that angle and it looks slightly shorter than the one in the pic.

I’d put $20 on that being a SB. Seems pretty clear, but if not, at least you have $20 towards your $35k hole.

I wouldn’t pay $35k for it new let alone used at an auction though.

The rear wheels are too close to the front for it to be a long bed. It’s a short bed

Why are you buying a truck based on a single photo? That's a bigger concern than bed length in my opinion.

Do you really think you could re-sell a used Sport for $40k+ if you don't like it?

yeah pretty obvious to you maybe, but OP obviously wasnt sure or else he wouldnt have created this thread. If I was in his shoes and wasnt sure i would have asked for more photos before coughing up the money

I think its funny how I created this thread to find a way to verify bed length using the VIN, and it devolved into judging my decision making based on a photo of a truck I'm not gonna buy. The photo is just an example of one of the many I've come across where it isn't straightforward to tell the bed length from the photo alone AND there is no way for me to ask for more photos.

I'm not judging you for anything. I quoted a post that said the pic was obviously a short bed, and I explained that it isn't obvious based on the pic. If it was, the thread wouldn't have been created.

As others have said. Location of the gas tank cap. Or look at the fender flare. If it basically touches the edge of the cab, short bed. If there is maybe 8 inches between where it terminates and the cab, then long bed. short1.jpg

Your arms reach is pretty close to your height. One or the other will match the bed.

If you google “Tacoma vin” the Toyota.com site is the first result. you can enter the vin and it will give you all the vehicle info. I tried it on my access cab, so there was only one bed option, but it should specify short or long bed for the double cabs. Even tells you when it was first put on the road, I believe the cab/chassis the 6th or 7th digit, but I haven’t found a list for what each one means. Dclb has a different frame than aclb or dcsb, so if you look at enough vin # you should be able to decipher it
