Having owned all three generations I can say with certainty that the 1st gen is the best Tacoma ever.

My 2nd gen was a dream. Just approaching 1,000kms on my new 3rd gen and loving it so far. Recently ordered my skinny blizzaks, can't wait for Ottawa winter

I did some research on this subject.

Tried to meet with the 1st gen owners club, but they don’t stay up past 5:00pm. Next time fellas!!

Had a great meeting with the 4.Slow club of Santa Monica. They have a great meeting format: 1st hour is discussing 2G Tacomas, and 2nd hour is Scientology and snacks. Decent people!

Then I strolled out to my 3rd gen, and these nice people were waiting for me!! They saw my truck and wanted in on the action.

I love my 3rd Gen, but it has a long way to go to prove it's a better truck than my 1St Gen.

Considering models are suppose to improve over the years the 3rd gen should be the best. Personally I enjoyed and preferred my 1st gen over my 3rd gen. Never was a big fan of the 2nd gens. I don’t think you’ll see 3rd gens with the kind of trouble free mileage that a lot of 1st and second gens. 3rd gen seem to have shit frames as well for the people living in the salt belts. How dependable is a truck really when it’s frame is rotted out? Personally I think Tacoma’s are a bit overhyped. Yes I know this is a Tacoma forum. Perhaps The 4th gen will blow the doors off the other gens. I guess we’ll see in a few more years. Or several if Toyota sticks to their trends.

This is my first experience with Toyota in general, let alone the Tacoma. So far it has been great. Didn't ever care for the styling of the 2nd gens, although I do like the late 1st gen/early 2nd gen styling. Family had a 1st gen and it was great other than the rust issues, but it was a 1st gen and in the rust belt no less. I also have family with a 2nd gen, but hasn't had issues. He's also done a few mods. I still consider my 2017 to be too new to truly call it reliable. But it certainly hasn't been unreliable.

No frame is safe when you live in the rust belt. That's what car washes and fluid film are for. My frame on my 2008 Canyon was the final straw to finally trade it in. It was still solid, but not something I wanted to put a ton of effort into.

I'm worried that these Tacoma owners are not social distancing and as a result have COVID - especially those 3rd gen young un's who think they are immortal.

I'll go hang out with the Nissan Frontier Owners club for safety purposes - low numbers, and you can tell this guy is friendly but doesn't want you to get too close.

I see a picture of 3rd Gen SuperSpreaders.

BTW, we lurk on this forum to snicker at all the troubles you 3rd Gs manage on your rides. Debates about which doodad is best........really?

I live 300 miles south of Ottawa and haven't ever said I couldn't wait for winter... :censored: winter!

This is my first Toyota, the look sold the truck along with the reputation. I was not shopping for anything however driving past the dealer I saw a BBP Tacoma and thought "that's a cool looking truck", after 3 days of driving by I stopped to look, 8 months of research later I bought a truck.

Best generation? I don't know, didn't have the other two. For due diligence I looked at GM, Ford & Nissan -- 3rd gen got me to look & 3rd gen got me to buy.

Tacoma owners will inherit the earth, while Nissan owners grow increasingly senile and disconnected, collecting mold in their foxholes hiding from the flu.

I look forward to the future.
