Hi everyone. I have a 2017 Tacoma Trd pro. As you know the suspension is different than the other Tacomas. I work on heavy dirt roads and put my truck to the limit. I just want to replace the shocks, I have no idea how much they cost, I know it’s an expensive suspension, but can you change only the shocks I guess? Not the spiral and/or gas/air suspension tanks right? Does any one have a clue on this?

You can have them rebuilt if they are leaking. Or sell them to me and get a beefier setup if that is what you are after.

btw they are sort of a complete unit so mix/matching parts doesn’t necessarily work.

they are FOX if you have a pro...so already beefy

You can buy all new for about 2400, or rebuild yours for 500-800, but if they didn’t work for you, sell yours and get something different. Not really understanding what you want to replace if not the entire setup

Are the Fox shocks not handling the roads as you need or is it just approaching the life of the shocks? Compared to my 2017 OR with Bilstein's, the Fox shocks are much better and I would keep them.

This is a good question. Normal use they recommend 50k mile rebuild. The use you describe would probably require service sooner. But if they didn’t cut it when they were new, then more money can solve most issues

I use the truck in South America, on dirt roads, many times with heavy loads, it has already 50000 + miles. They are great shocks And can handle pretty much everything, I just feel it’s time to replace them with new ones, I feel the truck more soft or less rigid than before

I see, then like I said, you can order new replacements and sell your old ones to someone who wants to rebuild them, or send in to be rebuilt, but that will leave you without them for a couple weeks. Or buy new and then send the old ones in and you’ll have a backup set

Okay, I’m looking at the prices. They are expensive, compared to just buying shocks for regular suspension models. So the kit comes with the spirals On the front ones and the air tanks on the back ones right? I thought you could just buy the internal shocks for replacement, I didn’t know it had to all be replaced. Still it is not that expensive to pay 2400 dollars for the whole suspension kit. But expensive if you have to pay that every time you want to replace them compared to normal suspension shocks on the other Tacoma models. Before this truck I had a more regular Tacoma, 2014 Trd sport.

Yes, you can get them rebuilt by fox for 600 ish depending on what shape they are in, but that leaves you without suspension for a couple weeks. 2400 isn’t bad for the full replacement, and rebuilding your other set or selling it will either offset the cost a bit or set you up for the next time you need them rebuilt

Fox makes the TRD Pro suspension so they are one and the same (referring to your pill question).

Order a rebuild kit from fox and find a local shop to do the work.
