My son, the car guy, belongs to a service call Petrol (?) here he gets a small box of car related stuff each month. This month 2 10mm sockets were included. We thought that was funny.

I know it's a cliche but I lost a 10mm socket last week changing the radiator in my van. It fell below the radiator where I can't reach it.

I have only lost one socket. Couldn't find it for the life of me. A week later there was a rattle in the cabin that drove me so batshit I nearly wrecked trying to find the direction the sound was coming from. As it turns out there is a weird fold in the plastic cubbies under the rear bench. I never even noticed until going over the entire truck with a flashlight. That damn 10mm was hanging out behind that fold.

At least I got it back though.

You learn the difference in sound when it hits the frame or lands on the floor

One can never have enough 10,12,or 14mm sockets or wrenches .

They all tend to hide I need to pretend I am looking for a 19mm and sneak up on them.

I have 10mm wrenches stashed everywhere one in my cubby by steering wheel, center console, glove box, and a couple “emergency” ones around my house. And of course I have multiple 12 and 14s. A few 19s because some of the suspension requires 2 19s and 2 17s

The side cutters went missing at work, my boss and I couldn't find them. They been gone a while. I looked under my drivers side fender well a couple weeks ago and there they were. I cleaned them up, put them back where they go and am waiting to see how long before the boss notices they're back.

Yeah. I've never lost a 10MM. It's taken a while to find them sometimes, but I've never lost them. 12MM on the other hand....

When I drop stuff like that, it seems to grow high speed legs to run under the most inaccessible, least likely location.

This phenomenon is inversely proportional to the size of the dropped item. The smaller it is, the faster and farther it will go........
