This was the next night and was able to find a dirt road that we could get close to the fire legally. I even made sure of it looking at Forest closure area and making sure we didn’t pass those boundaries.

I love Halloween season especially when I can lock down permission to shoot in an abandoned house. Helps having a makeup artist too. We shot in the middle of a heat wave with no power or AC yet at certain times, I felt a chill in my back. I am not superstitious like that, but it did kinda give me the creeps. Did this shoot in the dark with whatever light came in from a single small window behind me, a cell phone flashlight on her face for me to get a focal lock on, and a Godox AD200 with diffuser dome set at 1/32 power.

Hey guys! Anyone have any experience with Luminar 4 or On1 Photo Raw? Picking up my new laptop today and not wanting to do the Adobe lightroom subscription. Thanks!

    What haven’t I changed?
I bought ON1 Photo Raw earlier this year for its fractal resize module and its HDR stuff looked interesting so I thought I'd give it a shot. So far I've only used it to upsize one photo to get it printed at 40"x60". In my experience, I felt that it was slower than Lightroom for preview rendering and general file handling, and the interface was a bit clunky but that would probably go away if I used it more. The single biggest reason I haven't used it is because I get these weird artifacts in the highlights, where they go past white and circle back around to become black. It's possible that an update has fixed it but I haven't gone back to check.

The upsized photo looks nice though :)

Awesome picture you got there! And thanks for sharing your personal experience with on1 photo raw. I just saw that I can trial both softwares through their respective website. Leaning towards Luminar as it looks a bit more simpler with their layout. What photo editing software are you currently using?

I’m still using Lightroom. The subscription sucks but it works for 97% of my needs. Plus it comes with Photoshop so I can make internet memes all day

I've been a LR/PS fan for a long time. I never liked the subscription model but it's been working really well for me. I can work without a network connection and I'm current on all the software included with the subscription.

If you're looking for pluggins, LR is probably going to be easiest to find what you want (like Timelapse). It's a bit like buying parts for your truck. You find really cool parts for a Jeep and maybe not for a Taco.

Ah, gotcha. Do you do photography professionally? I know some folks here do paid gigs that's why I ask. I just shoot for fun and am finding it hard to commit to a monthly subscription because sometimes I won't even pick up my camera for months.

Decisions, decisions. Thanks for the reply fellas!

    I don't shoot professionally.

I agree with you about the pricing. But you can also suspend service too.

I have Luminar 4. I mainly use LR and PS but if I'm getting crazy with a sky I'll use LR/PS with Luminar 4. I'm just a hobbyist photographer but all three come in handy in my opinion. I dislike the subscription crap but for 11 bucks I think it is a month it's not bad. I think Luminar was 60. The latest update of PS has sky replacement like Luminar.

The image below I used LR/PS and replaced the sky with Luminar
    WK42 GMC Syclone (1 of 1).jpg

This image below I used only LR and for the sky replacement I only used PS. I had to mirror the sky/mask and all that to get the reflection in the water.

    DSD_9965 Pond Rainbow.jpg

Luminar is about to release, if they haven't already, a option to automatically create the reflections. I would assume PS will follow suit at some point.

All that being said I do think Luminar performs well by itself
