I have a 2013 4.0 4x4 with aluminum front bumper, winch, and Slee Sliders.

I found a great price on a set of 2.5's but they come with 800# Springs.

I don't offroad much and need a comfortable daily driver. Will the 800 pound front springs kill the ride quality? Any input is appreciated!

Right now I have ProComp ProRunner SS Springs with 3rd Gen springs up front.

    Thanks!

    Honeycomb composite sleeper platform.
Truck is similar with aluminum front bumper, winch, and steel sliders.

If the price is good, then go for it. The 800# springs are a non starter. With 14" 650# springs all the way backed off it is firm. I'd like to swap out for 14" 600# springs for a smoother ride.

    Thanks for the reply.

These are 16 inches! At 800lbs. I can get the 2.5's for $650 with those springs in it. But I'm not sure if I should just hold off and find something better. Or try to monkey around with this set?

Ride quality is really important to me since I work out of my truck (field training) and it's my daily.

Wait hold up... they are 2.5 Coilovers with a 16" x 800lb spring? What brand are they and are you 100% sure they are for a Tacoma?

Just a thought from a ignorant person.

    Have you weighed the truck?

Springs are sized by the "spring factor or k value". This is defined by how much weight will deflect the spring per inch. So, an 800# spring will need 800 lbs to compress it 1 inch. Does the front of your truck weigh more than 1600 lbs (2 springs, even support)?

What is the acceptable spring compression dimension for proper suspension? I'm sure the dimension is a working range.

I would think an 800# spring would be pretty stiff on a Tacoma giving a harsh ride.

Imo. You don’t have nearly enough weight on that front end to garner needing a 800lb spring. It’s gonna feel pretty stiff I’m betting.

I'm curious to see what's going on because on stock length 2.5's you can only fit a 14" coil on there. Plus 800 will be so insanely stiff that I don't know of a single tacoma that would benefit from those.

Yeah I decided to pass on it....too sketchy! I'm looking into a OME or Bilstein lift for the front now. Unless there are some amazing Black Friday deals coming up!
