@AR15xAR10- do you think painting the wheels can be done while they are still mounted? Very interested in trying this, but can't strip my wheels/tires right now. Thanks!

I have done it both ways, but now i see that this way yields waaaaaaaay better results.

I have done it this \/ way, and with index cards stuffed in the bead.

the main thing that people dont realize is, you have to remove the wheel weights if you want this job to turn out proper. Which means a rebalance anyway....so why not just have the tires separated from the wheels and really go to town?!

@Majora just came over to pick up some fog lights and helped me (did it all himself) with tinting my driver side and he absolutely killed it. Thanks dude!

He started picking up tools when he saw I wasn't going to do it precisely (correctly).

    PXL_20201021_225154900.jpg

Did you know they make -5% tint now?

    Hey Brian @chiefcrunchy ,
    Some photos for you.

    20201021_181929~2.jpg

    20201021_182005~2.jpg

Seems to me the lighter one would be a good camp axe with maybe a 19" handle if I went that route and the heavier one as the felling axe, especially since it has a pronounced heel and the additional support of the lug.

Of course what do I know.

And what about cleaning and sharpening these? Do I wire wheel the entire head or just end of the bit? Should I grind an edge to get them in shape or just use a puck and go slow by hand the entire way?

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Rob

I wire wheel my axes and sharpen them in a vise with an angle grinder. When done, i allow the head to soak in oil or WD40 to impregnate the metal and prevent rust.

Haha well Majora was pretty good at it for saying he's only done one truck. Deff don't think the AutoZone tint is going to help with the heat but will look cool (sunglasses smiley) :spy::bikewheelie::bikewhoops:

But seriously Mason, thanks for the tip. I have an angle grinder and some new wire wheel cup shaped things I've been dying to try out on something.
