You have to remember, the 2nd gens weren't as concerned with satisfying the EPA MPG goals at the time the 3rd gen was developed. The 3rd gens are geared for MPG. It's the same reason that it has 42 more HP and about the same torque as the 2nd gen, but the 2nd gen will walk away in a drag race.

Yeah, but I'd say resale kind of went out the window with the other mods. Doesn't anyone keep anything anymore? Lol

The hardest part is seeing another truck and thinkin damn wouldnt it be cool... and then you pay the cool guy price and end up with an entirely different set of issues... kinda like dating dating women you find one thats reliable but want that wow factor... you get one with the wow factor but now she's not so reliable haha

He's already established that this occurred in 4 LO as well. I'm guessing it has more to do with the 35's and the giant lift with no regear.

Sorry, I havent read the whole thread. If it does the same in 4LO that something is definitely wrong. It shouldn't have any issues in the low range.

Do you really need re-gear for 35s? I always thought 4.30 rear end would be adequate for 35s.

Hard to believe it happens in 4LO. Its a torque monster in the low range.

He said it only seems to happen on an incline, but says hill assist is working fine. As for a regear, that's just me spitballing at this point. Especially considering there's always the debate about going between 4.88 or 5.29 (or whatever the actual numbers are).

    So there are no codes.
    Runs ok in 2wd
Did we confirm it runs ok in 4wd on dirt roads level?

My only suggestion I can make right now.

Borrow some and put some stock size tires on it.
    Try it..
    So many possibilities.

The way you describe the issue sounds exactly like how I felt when I first took mine off roading. I put it in 4Lo coming up on a fairly steep climb and the moment it hit the slope the shit would just fall flat on its face and stall. Took 8-10 tries to get momentum to make it up. I felt bad thinking my new 4x4 truck couldn't even make it through the first rough obstacle on a moderate rated trail.

After that trip, it occurred to me that I never turned off Traction Control. My old Taco never had it and my cars that did would always flash a warning when it corrected so I didn't consider it while out on the trail. Second time taking it out, I turn off TC and it climbed and took on stuff like I hoped it would.

If you turned TC off, I'm wondering if there could be a malfunction and it continues bogging the throttle even when it is turned off? With the shorter manual gearing I don't think 35's would bog the engine that badly.
