non wifi - dedicated monitor, closed loop system (no wifi), half the price of non wifi, lower quality video quality but good enough to see if your baby is alive.

I hate it. That Social Dilemma movie fucked me up.

 

I deleted a bunch of apps off my phone mid-movie. I've also tweaked my push notifications so my phone will only buzz at me for something time-sensitive, such as someone texting or calling me. I'm trying to spend less time glued to my screen.

 

100 emoji. I mean I'm not stupid, I knew it was happening all the time. But something about watching the movie made it feel malicious, rather than just a business tactic. For me, it's super important around my kid. It is INSANE how they are drawn to devices. And when she's playing on the floor I don't want her to look up at me to react to something and I don't even notice because I've got my head buried in my phone.

 

I'm in the same boat. We're going to try our damndest to not be playing on our phone all the time or watching tv or whatever. If we get in the habit of no screen time from the start, it should be easy to continue as they get older.

 

Which is why I should have stopped talking like a sailor several months ago...

 

Fuck that.

 

That's been the approach so far...

 

I was planning on financing a turnkey steel building for like 15-20k, which i still think the best way if you dont want to fork out the cash up front. In this case though the garage is built on my dads property and he HAD to have it made out of wood if it was going to be there, so....

 

Yeah. I've got to stay away from commercial looking steel and metal buildings. I'm trying to make it look at home 100' from a 142-year-old farmhouse.
