Got mine done on Monday along with a software update to the front radar. Picked the truck up a few hours later and the front sensor light came on and could not be cleared. They bricked the radar and had to order a new one. They called me in today and replaced the sensor. All good. Free rental car both times. I liked the Avalon.

You must be relieved that floor mats were inspected for proper fit.

    You have no idea.
Every time I get in the truck I know those mats being just right is the only thing separating me from judgement day.

I'm scheduled for 11/4. When I asked the dealer how long, they said 5 or so hours, we have to remove the bed. Be sure it's unloaded. Not sure who this "we" includes, but I clearly doesn't include all dealers.

After reading this topic, I'll be telling the dealer drop the tank and if it's bed removal only, no thanks, I'll use someone else.

"We" are competent techs that are efficient. We haven't seen the taco active yet but I've done a 3rd gen fuel pump and many 2nd. I would never ever ever remove the bed.

Huh... That is odd. I had mine done last Tuesday.

Pro Tip: Make sure the fuel gauge is working before you drive away from the dealer. They left it disconnected and had to remove the tank AGAIN to reconnect mine. It would have taken 2 hours except they had to essentially redo the entire thing. ARGH....

I would just cancel it honestly. If they’re planning to remove the bed, that IMO is a sign they don’t know what they are doing. Is there somewhere else relatively close?

Is it the tech's discretion as to what method is used to complete this particular factory recall? I'm waiting for a return call from my SA, so I'll report back.

I'll give them a chance to do it the way I want it done. If not, sure... I'll drive further. And, I want to understand who's driving this decision, the SA, the tech, from Yota, etc... Or, I'll drop it off with a load of gravel and they'll have no other choice.

Finally got a a hold of an SA at the local dealership. Whomever scheduled the appointment was waaaaaay off. They assured me that they don't pull the bed. I'm going to sharpie mark all the bed bolts & washers. If they don't do as they say, I'll know. I hate letting other people touch my truck! I'm sure some techs care, but with my luck I'll get the guy that has been thinking about quitting the last couple of weeks. Fingers crossed.

They probably got you worked up over nothing. There's no reason to pull the bed when dropping the tank is so much faster. Any tech that wants to unnecessarily eat up time like that probably wont be employed at a dealership for very long.

Yep, it's like adding a supercharger. The new fuel pump adds additional 25hp! I actually burned rubber leaving the dealership!
