If I have the light switch set to Auto, then the DRL come on during the day and automatically shut off when I turn the truck off. In Auto at night, the headlights automatically come on but they stay on even when I shut the truck off. I waited a few minutes to see if they would time out and shut off, but they stayed on. This isn't normal compared to other cars I have driven. Is this normal operation for a Tacoma, or is something wrong with mine?

They should shut off about a minute after shutting down the truck and locking it. If you shut off the truck and just sit in it they take much longer to shut off, but they should eventually shut off. Can't tell you how long they'll stay on cause I never timed it but it does take a good while. I Hope that helps a bit.

Have you looked in the owners manual to see if there is a time listed (there should be) and if you can adjust that time?

Okay. I have not checked the owners manual. I also don't lock it, so maybe that is why it didn't shut off for so long. Didn't realize it was a different time depending on if the truck is locked or not. I will need to lock it next time and see if it changes.

if you leave a door open, it also wont shut off. only when all doors are shut, does the timer start counting down.
