"The bane of environmentalists in the early 2000s, Hummer is recast as an electric-only truck capable of a jaw-dropping 1,000 horsepower, 11,500 lb-ft of torque and a sprint to 60 mph in 3 seconds. “We came to play ball,” a spokesman deadpanned in an interview with Autoblog. Electric range was not revealed.

GM will build the reborn Hummer at the Detroit-Hamtramck factory in Michigan that was once thought to be set to close. It will be revealed May 20 at an event in Las Vegas."

It’s worth noting this torque figure could very well be the truck’s wheel torque, which is different from what the electric motor actually makes. GM does not clarify which it is at this moment. “Yes, the 11,500 lb-ft number is technically correct from an engineering standpoint,” Roadshow elaborates, “but it’s not the measurement most commonly used. A GMC official told Roadshow the final, SAE-certified number will be released closer to the truck’s on-sale date.

That's a cute torque rating, my tacoma in double low is at 47,521ft lbs at the wheel.

Hope they bring it back to the H1 design cues.

I’ve seen videos of it off-road, and more accurate specs online. Looks well engineered, but at $112,000 it’s a wealthy mans ride.

Torque #s seem a tad inflated but regardless, that poor drivetrain

Unless each wheel has it's own electric motor people are gonna break em.

For whatever reason, GMC provided the total wheel torque instead of motor/engine torque. Accounting for gear ratios, the total motor torque will be around 1000 ft-lb (around the same as heavy-duty pickups).

Looks like each of the rear wheels has its own motor and the 2 front wheels share a motor.

No kidding. Huh. Might be pretty cool. I wonder who's bright idea it was to market it that way.

I watched a 1 1/8" steel winch cable snap like a rubber band during a test of a Deere 944K. It is a hybrid with electric locomotive motors at each wheel. Probably wont be long before the Hummer tug-of-war YouTube videos surface. It's pretty crazy what gets put to the ground using that method of propulsion.
