I have a similar wifi dongle for analyzing and changing settings on my BMW R1200GS. It generates its own SSID, and obviously an IP address, that any device with wifi can connect to. In my case I can either use an app, or connect to it by entering its IP address in a web browser.

It takes me longer to access the OBD port on the bike than it does for the dongle to boot up and be visible for connection. Not sure if Mat's dongle will boot up as quickly, but I assume the technology is the same.

Nice, that's what I assumed too. I am going to be swapping to a dedicated tuning laptop, and I will be able to set it up to always connect and take priority over other connections.

My 2 cents o these tables and numbers.
I had\have more aggressive numbers in 4,5,6 gear tables, linear&curvy airload table and I could not match the accelerator to the throttle in my data logging.

So, 'linear throttle' in 5th, @D2H ? Seems several people are chasing the throttle=accelerator "ideal" for reasons I am not quite clear on. You could do that if you want; but, the important point is how the values for each gear relate to the gear before it, or after it. If adjacent gears are the same you will have the 'bog'/reduction in acceleration on upshift and the 'surge'/increased acceleration on downshift no matter what you do with the shift tables. (Another reason the cruise control can be so jarring on downshifts.)

IOW, with the stock tables (and OV), if you lock the accelerator in one position at a steady speed in 5th gear... and you shift into 6th, you will slow down... shift to 4th, you will speed up. I don't want my speed/power/acceleration to change so significantly after shifting while driving normally.

Coincidentally @Vlady , it occured to me today that these tables probably aren't referencing 'throttle angle' as they are labeled. Now, I'm thinking they reference % of max air flow... they are in the 'throttle airflow' section, after all. So, perhaps the 'ideal' numbers in my chart are actually ideal, if impractical. (Ideal because % air flow is ~linear with power; throttle degrees are not.)

I'm trying to sort all this out logically and mathematically (as the ECU does). I'd like to connect the dots from the accelerator to the optimal engine torque table as I believe that would allow me to determine the most logical (and efficient) shift points.

Good observations and points. When you say linear throttle, do you mean the accelerator angle values match the throttle angle values?

Like you, I am still trying to make sense of this myself. Please keep us updated if you make any progress on the throttle management tables. i am going to continue to play with this and will let you know if I learn anything of value.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their thoughts and experiences.

does anybody have feedback on using these tunes? Are they the best so far as a consensus?

    @OVTune .

Looking around in OBD Fusion, I found a PID for Engine Stall Control F/B Flow. It reports in torque units.

I don't know if this is an active PID for the Taco, but could it be a clue to the 1st gear DFCO puzzle?

I've been running some form of these tunes with a few tweaks for weeks and haven't had any issues.

Jason, If you have a 2016 truck, you should be on 04b04. @Stormpeacock has a 2019 on 04b31, so his tunes won't work on your truck. If you want 04b04 tunes, I have links in my signature that you can download and flash.

I saw a few people ask for 04A61 or clones of tunes from other ecu’s. This is a clone of @Mooseditty17 perf-GL. But for premium 04A61. He’s gets all the credit tho. I’m running this it’s super smooth does what I want so I’m happy till we figure out how to do more in VF

I am running MD's latest ECT tune - not modified for AGM - just 4.88's and tire size. Have posted I think it is the best one so far. Better than P5F 2.0 or any P5F beta's by far. JMO.

I would agree. These numbers are not related to the throttle.
Here is my example of climbing a moderate incline.
My table for 5th and the "lets assume accelerator angle" =50.5 should be producing about 65-70 whatever of the throttle limit.

I'm running @Mooseditty17 Perf GL regular tune and it fits my need pretty good. The 2.0 is a stock econo tune, so it's not a fair comparison. This tune is more responsive, shift points a little crisper, that dang 3500 rpm surge has been smoothed out. MD has done a nice job on it
