For sure on the list. Though it's also one that seems heavier than it needs to be and I wonder how much advantage it has in short-travel-terrain vs some of the good mid travel bikes.
Well unfortunately I'm not Matt Jones. I have done the aggressive HT thing. It's fun but not a one-bike quiver for me. I do love my Scout which is why I'm not in a hurry. I'd like to try a 29er and carbon for my next bike.

It’s not the lightest by a long shot. Don’t think it was intended to be, but that is one of the few gripes I have with mine. Similarly, I’m hesitant on going to a following for fear of having the same fat boy in a tiny jacket routine.

On a side note. I chatted with the owner of the local spesh shop today about the new stumpy. All I can say is holy shit. Dude was ridiculously informative and worked through fitment and sizing with me over the phone. Since I’m very much on the bubble of two sizes he’s gonna be reaching out to his contacts at the big S with my measurements and current bike numbers to dial in which frame size would be best for me. All that being said, at minimum I’ve now meet yet another really cool person I look forward to riding with sometime. But it’s also very possible I’ll be on a stumpy in the not too distant future. Haters gonna hate :notsure:

Beer League CX is one of life's greatest pleasures (that hurts the ENTIRE time). Plus watching roadies try to bunnyhop over stuff is always amusing.

Got the bug when I lived in Seattle and their courses took like 3 days of prep. One even had a slip and slide as a mandatory feature

Sounds like you need the Optic.

Was gonna ask why the extra valve... At that point, just throw in the tube.

It’s hard to just classify these bikes. We are damn spoiled for choice.

Here’s something to think about. Rather than thinking of bikes as categories, define what characteristics are going to work for you by thinking about past experiences and what you want to change.
Here’s the checklist in order of importance IMO.
**Most important thing is that it gets you excited to ride.
    1. Geometry. Reach, BB height/drop, seat angle, head angle.
    2. Build. Dampers, drivetrain, brakes, wheels.
    3. Suspension design. Progressivity, leverage ratio, ride characteristics.
    4. Travel. Find a rough number, be willing to go +/- 10mm depending on progression rate.
    5. Material. Carbon is great stuff, but AL still has its place.
    6. Warranty. Lifetime is the new standard. But don’t sleep on bearing replacement.
    7. Other shit. Frame details, color, paint quality, cable routing, name on the downtube, etc.

A valve weighs almost nothing, takes up almost no space, and then I don't need to use a tube.

Has anyone converted a 3x to a 1x recently? Looking for best bang-for-the-buck recommendations. Shimano M8000 XT stuff is looking like a good bet so far.

Blew up another wheel. This time an Industry Nine Enduro 305 with Torch. I'm ready to order a new rim but can I reuse these spokes?
