    Finally made the decision and got a 2014 4door 4wd Tacoma today. 4.0 v6. I have 2 questions.

1st is it has 245/75/16 Cooper rtx. What real world mpg can I expect driving normal and mixed highway/city driving?

2nd is I have a kubota l3901 which has loaded tires. Approximately 4500lbs and a 18ft dual axle trailer.I’ll tow it 30 miles one way 4-5 times a year. Will it do fairly well with this load? Also I’ll be towing a 1999 Carolina skiff that boat/motor/trailer is approximately 2000lbs will the truck fair well with this on a regular basis?

One can never have too many light bars.
That trailer will probably be fine as long as it's not too hilly. Definitely pushing it to the limit though. More worried about stopping it rather than pulling it. The boat will be fine.

It will be fine with the boat. No problems there at all.

The Tractor will be putting you close to max towing capacity.
Make sure you have WORKING trailer brakes, and use 4th gear to tow.
I find towing anything over 4,500 lbs is not an enjoyable experience.

What exactly do I need to do to make sure and use 4th gear to tow?

First off, if you have a manual transmission, you can tow in a y hear you fell comfortable.

If you have an automatic transmission?
If so, the reason I’d be towing that tractor in 4th gear is because I found that even at 4K
my transmission would lock/unlock the torque converter frequently, as well as shift to 4th a ,out of times. This is hard on the transmission, so keeping it in 4th helps. Plus you can utilize some more engine braking too.

You can use 5th, I just find the Transmission hunts for gears the the closer you get to 3,000 lbs.

Slide the shift lever over to the 4 position.

Gear down (4th), brake early, and you may need add-a-leaf, HD springs or firestone air bags (Route I went).B1CB3737-D9D9-493C-BF14-BAD98C5641AF.jpg

    Welcome!
What's done is done, but is there a reason you didn't work out the towing prior?

As long as you use 4th like everyone says you'll be fine. I towed my dads ranger last night without any issues
