Hey all, I'm looking to get a pressurized water system for my truck. Nothing crazy... just something for beach trips / weekend camping trips.

Read a bit about WaterPORT but would love to hear about other folks' systems and if there's agreement on some of the best systems to use/install.

Let me know! Or feel free to point me in the right direction of an existing thread :)

Depending on how much water you need and what kind of spray pattern your looking for you can get a cheap garden sprayer from the hardware store. Thats what I use and it works great. Put it on the fine mist option and it washes kid feet clear of all sand pretty fast. I have also used it to put out a van that caught fire once too.

I did the same thing. Have a two gallon pump sprayer mounted in the bed. Used a 5 gallon water expansion tank bracket from lowes to secure it. Great for doing camp dishes, washing hands, cleaning floor mats etc

Carrying the extra 17-18 pounds isn't a big deal to me

i have one of the 3.7 gallon waterports. debated between the rinse kits and yakimas too. the waterport seemed to be the easiest/most convenient. the hand pump it came with (costco bundle) works better than I thought it would too. the new ones they came out with look pretty cool, but seems more of a permanent thing than the mid sized 3.7 gallon ones.

Have the waterport and used it a ton while we lived in Hawaii. I loved just rinsing my daughter off with warm water after jumping in for a quick swim. Using it to rinse my dog off from mud and dirt is a huge plus too. Absolutely love it and use it still after 4 years of use.

I use the waterport to get the sand off my kayak after the beach. I use it in tandem with a rechargeable/compact battery charger/compressor. The compressor was the game changer allowing me to really maintain that pressure as the water drains out. Also...very portable which is nice because the spot I rinse the kayak at and the location of my truck are sometimes far apart! Lastly, I added one of those hoses that shrinks up after you cut the water pressure, so that way I don't have to carry the water port around to spray down the whole kayak. Oh...and I used the adapter to put it on the bed rails which keeps it both secure and out of the way.

i use a 5 gallon agriculture sprayer with the wand removed. it is easy to charge and holds enough water to shower me and my surf bort off about 3 sessions. If you fill it and leave it in the bed in the morning, the sun will heat it up pretty good. I found the trick to getting good flow/water pressure was removing the spray wand/ head. I keep this in my truck all the time now and have used it as a camp shower/ after bikeing shower.

I find that pretty much all these options have too high of a flow rate. Typically they are ~2gpm. So a 7 gallon Waterport only nets 3.5 minutes of water.

I modified a WORX Hydroshot. At 20v it’s 0.5gpm. I removed the pump assembly and wired it to a 12v plug. Now it’s pumping about 0.33gpm. And it comes with a 5-in-1 nozzle that has high pressure streams and shower streams. It’s not powerful but it’s perfect for camping. Plus I get about 13 minutes of running water from a 5 gallon jug. It also will work with any container I choose.

i dont quite understand. the waterport has too much pressure and shoots water out too fast? why not just put less pressure? or un-pressurize it and let water flow from gravity?

I don't know the specific number, but even gravity fed with the nozzle they use is a lot of water per minute. You end up wasting a lot. You could use a smaller nozzle or some other means of regulating.
