    Good morning,
I purchased 6x9 kicker speakers for my 2020 Dbl cab TRD Offroad from Crutchfield. Front doors only. This was about 4 months ago. Do not have an amp and straight stock. For the last month or so, I thought there was a rattle on the front passenger side. Looked three times. Could not find anything loose. Yesterday I noticed that when listening to Spotify, that the speaker sounded blown. Could hear the bass popping.

How could new speakers on stock stereo sound like they are blown? I am 53yrs old, don't need ear bursting bass. Just enough to hear it. Thanks for your help.

Its easy to blow speakers with less than rated power if you crank them, but it doesnt sound like you crank them up to often.

But more importantly, its probably not blown, but rather its rusted. On tacomas, water drains from the windows into the doors (most cars actually do this) but the water drains right onto the magnets of aftermarket speakers. This water can either go in the pole piece (hole in the back of the speaker magnet) or it will soak the spider (yellow tan accordion between the basket and the cone) if it soaks the spider, the water goes right into the voice coil and then onto the pole piece.

There is a very tight space between the pole piece and the magnet that the voice coil rides in, any bit of corrosion will cause it to pop and scrape.
