Agreed,I retired from a County Job and Retirees got a raise this year on our monthly check. Every month when my check hits the bank my Wife says thank you.

 

Yeah it was to fix their screwup 4 years ago when they caused compression in the whole dept. The pay was all over the place because 2 Chief’s ago hired people for whatever he wanted to pay them instead of having an actual pay scale. When they fixed it and created a base starting pay for each level some of them got up to a $3/hr raise. Those of us who had been there were already above that level so we got 2%. But it doesn’t make much sense to of been there 18 years at that time and make $1.60 more than someone walking in the door. So they did a study on wages and of course after they got the money determined that there wasn’t another service in the southeast run like ours to compare it to. We have 4 ambulances and cover 464 sq miles. I guess no one else does that. Lol. They finally decided on 1% per year of service and back date it to July 1st of this year. So I ended up with 22% for 22 years and then another check for my back pay back to the start of this fiscal year (July 1). They did us right and counted all my time I had there even though I had left for 7 months because I stayed part time and didn’t sever ties with them. It is the best place that I’ve ever worked as far as treating their employees right and taking care of them.
