Tied several boat anchors to my truck to destroy MPG.

Mine is at Toyota of Seattle. In my experience they *do* farm out their work that isn't an oil change, but they don't tell you that. But I think they may have done it in house. They dropped the gas tank last night and put the pump in when it showed up this morning. Its ready to pick up. Fingers crossed they didn't hose something up.

I had mine done this last Wednesday. They dropped the tank without messing with the bed at all. The mechanic thanked me for having the tank at seven miles till empty. He said having the tank that low made the repair a lot easier for him. It was 1 1/2 hours total time in and out.

Well I'm sure there are a number of dealership horror stories and this one isn't even that bad but it goes like this:

Dropped by truck off for 30K service + fuel pump recall.
Get a call that evening the service guy is in a bit of a rush and I'm in the middle of a phone call but he basically mumbled a few things that seemed like they would be a part of a $250 dollar 30K service and the whole phone call lasted less than 3 minutes. No mention of any additional cost or any costs at all for that matter.
Got the call to pick it up today and went in and guy hands me a $1100 bill for stuff like $50 to clean the battery terminals. I told him I never authorized that and if I did and he had told me the cost for that stuff I would have spit my coffee all over my office. I told him I wanted to be a Karen and talk to the manager, but he said the managers were gone and unavailable. I told him to give me the keys and I'll talk to them when they are available, and pay at that time and he said no to that. I made it clear I was not gonna pay for shit and eventually he asked if he cut the cost to a total of $500 for everything would that work and I eventually just gave into that because I just wanted to get the fuck out of there. I looked at the list of stuff they did and it was mostly labor charges for things I'm pretty sure I couldn't substantiate that they even did. Nothing came close to adding up to $1100 so he must have just deleted stuff off the bill so I'll have no idea what they supposedly done. So it cost me an extra $250 to get my 30K service. I'm sure this has been been brought up on this site before before, but they itemize checking the fucking floor matt installation on the 30K service???

Anyway, I should have expected it. Moral of the story for me is either A.) Don't ever take your truck to the dealership for maintenance (I've heard it a million times but still did) or B.) Get the cost and breakdown in writing before authorizing them to do a single pennies worth of work or they will f**k you.

Glad I have my truck back though. I love that damn thing. And the fuel pump replacement seemed to go well I haven't found anything wrong yet.

Just picked up mine from the dealer. Can’t really tell any difference.

They gave me a paper to give to the CA-DMV that the vehicle was modified to meet CA emission control laws.
