Got another variation to offer the 04B04 folks. Calling this one MD.87_Mild+Wild.vft

While in Drive the shift points are elevated, and tip in is increased to a peppy yet manageable level over OV's O4B04_Reg_Stock_Thx_33

Press the ETC Pwr button and you will be instantly greeted to a tip in that is CRAZY fun, and a truck that shifts at a minimum of 2,500+/- RPMs.

Note: No Gear Lock or "Tow Mode" with this tune. I would think running this tune in S Mode without ETC Pwr would make for a pleasant towing experience though.

All other previous mods / hacks/ adjustments have been applied. Still no AGM though. Torque converter lock up has been eliminated in 3rd and raised minimally in 4th. S Mode operates as it did from the factory. When ETC is applied in S Mode, the wild tip in is applied.

If people want the premium version, I'm sure @PapaRee would be willing to hook you up.

ATTN: As the winter season falls upon us Northerners, I strongly advise you DO NOT use ETC Pwr unless you are fully prepared to lose traction!

    Enjoy

EDIT: I'm adding an updated version (3.1) with 3rd gear TC slip lock and 4th gear TC slip and full lock incorporated for those concerned with Trans Temps while towing. I hands down have more miles on this tune than any other I've made to date! Lovin' it.

Just plan on flashing something new every 3-5 days. It’s all about managing expectations. Just go with it...

    @Anyone
Being on 04A61, I have not paid enough attention to what MD and PR have been doing with GL. What do each of these modes do?

    D =
    D+ECT =
    S =
    ECT+S =

    TIA

Anything + ETC = Gear Lock.

    *Edit
Also, D and S mode both have more throttle vs. 2.0 or stock. Should be a bit more fun to drive. Only thing that may need tweaked is the gear-hang for 3rd and 4th that’s been discussed. I have a version of 04A61 that has @PapaRee’s latest tweaks as well.

    **Edit with clarification from @PapaRee
Also, ECT + anything is not GearLock. Only ECT+S mode.
When you set up a gearlock tune, ECT stops downshifting, S mode stops upshifting. So you can only have GearLock with S+ECT.
Drive + ECT would only stop downshift (that's not gearlock). So if you press ETC in D the truck will go from 1st to 6th normally, but won’t downshift from 6th.

Thanks, I am not sure when I will give that tune a try, but that will help a bunch with not having to experiment trying every different combination.

Oh, with ECT off should expect anything different for D to S?

No, I set throttle and other settings equal for D and S so you should get a similar experience between the two modes. It does not have the transmission lock changes MD was making for 3rd gear S2. If you want something different, let me know. It’s easy to change.

No worries. The only thing I’m cautious on is changes to the transmission lock/unlock that MD and others have been toying with. I am not adding those tweaks to tunes I post as I’m concerned with overheating due to unlocked TC. I do run those tunes on my truck though, but that’s my choice.

I haven't thought much about ECT; but, this leads me to believe there is an (unavailable to us) ECT throttle multiplier somewhere.

I appreciate your thoughts; it has made me think more deeply about this. It's reassuring to hear your earlier experiments behave the way I/we would expect.

I think I am now on a set of maps that allows ~0.845/~15% less airload (?) than the "ideal" for each gear step in the bulk of the range (leaving 1st stock).
    e.g.
    22.0
    7.722
    11.233
    13.324
    16.743
    20.581
    20.587

I plan to go closer to 'ideal'; but, I want to work through some other things before I 'fix' this and mess up my shifting, again.
