I have a 06 with 194k and never really had any problems. About a month ago car stalled on side of road showing half tank. Turns out tank was empty and it was the fuel filter

Ever since the dealer changed the fuel
Filter it feels funny. When letting off the gas and coasting when I hit 35 down to 25mph if feels like a strong engine braking feel

dealership says has nothing to do with fuel filter

I believe I tried to coast in neutral and it doesn’t do it or not as strong

i have driven most of the miles so I know it feels different

    any ideas?

I can understand running the tank empty might draw lots of dirt into the filter

It your engine braking would not have any thing to do with the fuel filter though it sounds normal.

Auto or manual ?? Auto is the transmission down shifting harder or sooner then normal?

Any other work done at the same time or in a few days Different tires exhaust etc??

Well you would not have any engine braking in neutral.

Hard call to make without driving .

    Thanks for the reply.
Auto transmission. Nothing else done at the time. Felt the difference while driving home from dealership after the repair

at first thought maybe tire pressure low, felt like hitting sand or mud and slowing down.

I will need to try manual downshifts to see if I can replicate it myself

engine braking would be more likely associated with the transmission

if engine is running correctly accelerating

    is running correctly trailing throttle

    not likely fuel filter
