Advice needed: I’m gonna be installing a kicker hideaway sub in my 2020 double cab and thought about putting it under one of the seats. Question is, will it be a bad idea to mount it on top of the air vent that is under the seats?

Or, for anyone who has installed it in the cubby behind the rear seats, does it still “thump” since it is further away and more covered? I’m not expecting a HUGE amount of bass anyways, but wasn’t sure if it’s powerful to be useful in the back of the cab.

So I just had a conversation with a guy at my local audio store about this very thing, only regarding an amplifier.

His response to that is that your heater doesn’t put out air that is warmer than the amplifier already is so he do isn’t see an issue. I’m still conflicted because I know for sure that it would affect cooling, but also realize this is a guy I’ve had a lot of audio conversations with, that he does this for a living, and generally, I respect his opinion and consider him knowledgeable.

Thanks! I appreciate the info. I’m thinking about putting it on a couple spacers to at least get a little airflow underneath it. Gotta wait until it stops raining in Texas to check it out though. Lol

Yeah I’m considering some kind of diverter between the amplifier and the vent. Also I rarely use my floor vents for heating so overall there won’t be a lot of heated air on or around it any away.

Whenever I have the heat on I always use the floor vents. Can’t stand the hot air blowing in my face. Lol. But yeah, either gonna try some nylon spacers, or just duck tape that vent so no air comes out if the spacers don’t give it enough height. No one will ever be riding in the back really anyways.
