What happens if you don't replace the needle bearing after lifting? I know people get vibes when the bearing fails, but what happens if you don't correct it and just let it vibrate away?

A vibration in a bearing is one of the first indications that the bearing is failing.

Yes, the bearing will operate for a while, but it is on a destructive path without recovery.

In the bearing world there is an indication of the bearing life known as L10. This is a fairly complex calculation based on load, rotation speed, lubrication, service factor......etc. The calculation will estimate the L10 in hours of operation. The definition is the time when 10% of the bearings will have a pit or spall on the a race or a roller. Total bearing will happen.

If you have vibrations from a bearing, it is failing.

When the bearing fails you get metal shards (bearing parts) in the diff. The half shaft wobbles around destroys the oil seal, diff fluid leaks. Going to destruction? The half shaft seizes :notsure:.

In my case there was no sonic difference between 2W and 4W drive. The diff oil seal was leaking. I did the ECGS bearing mod while I was in there. It is now noticeable quieter. My guess, by the time there is noticeable sonic difference between 2W and 4w drive you are on borrowed time.
