Looking to get rid of my OEM LED 2015 tail lights in favor of an aftermarket pair these to be exact (seems like they're the same as the ones on tacomabeast). But I keep seeing a note that they won't be plug and play with OEM LED trucks even though I'm seeing reviews state that they were plug and play. What's the deal? I've seen this note on most of the aftermarket 2nd gen tail lights. Anyone have any insight either way?

It’s a disclaimer. They can not guarantee they’ll work since they’re not Oem. It’s the manufacturer’s way of releasing themselves from liability if they don’t work. That’s all.

I can guarantee you that those lights directly plug and play. I have a set like those on my truck and the only bulb I needed was a reverse bulb. Recommend getting a CREE reverse bulb as they are super bight and super effective.

Could you post a picture of them installed on your truck? Having trouble finding many pictures of these installed

Thanks everyone for the replies, I assumed it was a general disclaimer but found it odd that it only mentioned the OEM LED models having potential issues

I’m running them on my 2015 with no problems. This shot is from mid-install, which took just a few minutes.

I got you OP. Seems a lot of people seem to be getting these tail lights confused...
I too was on the lookout for these lights. Or others.. there really aren’t any great aftermarket options for the 2nd gen. Frankly I think all of them mostly suck. These were my favorite option.. but I Couldn’t find much information on them. However, since buying them, I can answer a few things for ya with a little info and photos.
-I’ve had them installed for a month or two now. I think they’re great quality.
-They actually do wire up, plug and play for all 2nd gen tacomas. Some sites say non led models..They plugged right up in my 2014 sport. So I can attest they work on all 2005-2015 models.
-the lights have a boxier/round shape to them. I’ve seen people have problems putting on those tail lights cage guard things, because they are a touch boxier than oem tail lights. I’m my opinion, the side profile and shape matches the tail gate lines perfectly (photos).
-another thing to mention... these tail lights are almost EXACT replicas of 2015-2020 Yukon Denali tail lights. The internals look identical.. shape fitted for a Tacoma. I’m assuming they took major styling cures from that design.
-finally.. I was able to find mine on eBay for $165. I believe I bought the last set at that time, for that price. I’m sure you can find them under $200 easy enough. Pretty sure Tacoma beast, or others has them for like $400+... ouch.
-oh and mine have worked flawless since. No leaks. Look great! Looks more modern to me. Nice to have a sort of updated oem look to them. Super happy! you will need to swap your reverse bulbs over... or I just suggest some new bright ass white leds. That’s my next purchase. Okay onto the photos, my FB group post and video clips. As there isnt much info about these great lights, I’m hoping to help out the guys interested in them. Good luck!
Edit:video post did not work. I uploaded it to YouTube and you can view the lights demonstration.

Just to close this out, ended up ordering these from DT moto on ebay. They're spyder brand and you'll find multiple sellers selling the same exact light. Plug and play with 2015 sport (LED model). I like them a lot, they definitely update the look of the back end but blend in well enough that they could pass as oem. WAY brighter than stock too

I ended up getting smoked ones for right around 200$ with tax off Amazon. They look great super darks but the lights are bright enough to still see

For anyone that they don't work "plug and play" you might just need different pigtail harnesses (Toyota P/N 81555-04150). I had to do this when I got the Spyder Xtune lights (from dt_moto, same as other people above). See this post in my build thread for photos of the different connector shapes.
