Replacement AC not blowing cold air

I have a 2006 double cab taco and had the a/c replaced in 2009 (45k miles) when it went out. Since replacing the a/c it doesn't cool well, and no one can seem to figure out what is going on. When I touch the high side line ( i think) it is freezing, and should translate into a really cold cab, but it doesn't get that cold. I am looking for some thoughts and insight as to what else I can do to fix the issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Below is a list of what was replaced/done when I had it repaired.

A/C Compressor with clutch

a/c condenser

Dura flush

Fregiquite

R-134A refergerant

 

Just curious, who did the work? Seems like whoever replaced it should have made sure it was working correctly?

 

An "import specialist" that came highly recommended from 4 different people. He says that it is cooling the way it is suppose to cool and cites that the reason my wife's corrolla and other vehicles cool down faster and colder is due to the fact that they are independent fan driven..?? The air will get cooler after quite some time, but not as cold as it should get and it seems like it takes forever. I think it will eventually get down to about 50 degrees---cooler depending on the days weather, humidity, etc. Regardless, I know that it should blow ice cold, but it doesn't. Any ideas?

 

I went through this after a compressor failure last summer. Here is what worked:

The symptoms are usually cool air on the drivers side and progressively warmer air in the vents toward the passenger's side.

The expansion valve has an in line filter on the high pressure line and when the compressor fails, it fills this up with crap--basically all the metal that your compressor sheds when it comes apart. While the expansion valve may still be okay, the filter is probably clogged. The valve is not real expensive, so I replaced it and thoroughly flushed the system (with the condenser removed and the lines disconnected from the new compressor) to get any lingering debris out. The expansion valve can be accessed through the hole in the firewall on the passenger side after you disconnect the lines and remove the rubber grommet. You need a E10 Torx nut driver to get it out.

Of course, this means you have to purge the system, vacuum it, and charge it all over again. It is a pain, but it works great now.

Thanks for the reply and the link. That makes good sense and it was not included in the itemized list on the bill. I wonder why the guy didn't replace the expansion valve?
