Well, my '09 is almost up to its magical 12 years on the road and the end of the frame "recall" eligibility. The frame has been checked by Toyota twice, last time in March cost me an hours labour, and all was found to be good. I called today to set up one more inspection before the end of my eligibility and was told by the service rep that they had never heard of anyone wanting multiple inspections. I told her that, given Toyotas frame history, I wanted to be sure that if there was a problem, it would be in the 12 year period and Toyota would fix it. She then said that I could have it checked but as I had already had a "recall" case and it was closed, it could not be reopened. If a hole was found, my truck did not qualify. I told her that my truck was good until the 12th anniversary of its "in service" date (Nov 24). She then spoke to her supervisor who told her that as my truck was under the 12 years, it would be inspected and if a hole was found, a claim would be submitted to Toyota. All that to ask: if there are ever issues with my frame in the "problem" areas, is it something that is repairable or do I become the POed owner of a part Taco? Thanks much

If Toyota finds a hole when it's under coverage, Toyota buys you a new frame.

If a hole develops outside that window (later down the line), you're on your own for repairs. There are very few true frame shops left, and repairs can be very expensive. Depending on your state, such repairs may or may not allow the vehicle to pass inspection.
