I have been using the ECT on at all times mode for about 6 months now, and i did experience a lost of about a 1 mile per gallon..
90% of my driving is city driving.. i normally turn it off when i go in a long road trip...

Has anyone compared Non ethanol fuel m.p.g. to ethanol mixed fuel ? Better for your engine/fuel system and increased m.p.g. could offset the additional cost ?

The location of the ECT button pisses me off. And having to engage it every time I start the truck is lame.

I believe the difference is marginal at best...at least if I remember right from a Project Farm video.

I've just recently started driving with ECT on to see if I wanted to do the default on mod.
I've been very happy with the experience so far, and it seems that I am getting slightly better mileage with it on. I'm going to continue to monitor and see what happens, but I am leaning towards doing the mod.

The only scenario I can imagine where ECT would provide better results is in hill/mountain country. In the flatlands there's no way holding gear longer and higher RPMs translates into better mileage.

Do the @MESO stealth shifter mod. ECT button removed from dash and under your thumb. Once you do this you’ll wonder how you ever got along without it. A must have mod if you use ECT.

I bought the ECT always on mod here on TW and almost can't imagine not using it. I turned it off the other day and was surprised how sluggish the truck felt. In my non-scientific tests, I think I get slightly less MPG with it on but to me it's worth it for the increased responsiveness I get with it engaged.

Did a test today. Same level stretch of road both times going the same direction. At 70mph...... 23.5 without ECT, 26.8 with ECT.

sounds kinda funny cause theoretically ECT lengthens your shift time thus eating more gas per gear shift where as D or S6 would shift early and save gas.

Something to ponder... If the transmission is in 1st gear or 6th gear with the same throttle position, is the engine using the same amount of fuel in both scenarios ? Same amount of fuel Regardless of R.P.M.'s ?

Please forgive my ignorance as I am new to the Tacoma world. Is the ECT on by default?

Did the same stretch of road today. Even though I received a higher MPG in ECT the other day I could have been getting some draft at the time even though the closet car was 200+- yards ahead. So today I did the same test with ZERO cars near me. Without ECT I got 25.7mpg, with ECT I got 26.3.

No when you turn the truck on the default is no ECT.

Weird, my 2020 truck auto is very responsive using the regular D mode. All ECT does for me is hold the shift points back longer. No difference in power otherwise. After trying ECT the other day i got 1 mpg worse over the same 50 mile trip.
