Huh, welding it to the frame seems like a great idea! As long as it's obvious enough to those in a possibly less than sober more than desperate state, in the dark of night, on their back, to prevent them from ever starting to cut.

I was already looking into making my own aluminum skid plate, armor solution, but think I should just buy the cat armor linked in another thread (https://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/ORF87045.htm) and a skid plate separately.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an aluminum skid plate (I have an AllPro aluminum front bumper)? I assume the AllPro bumper is part of the equation, should I just stick with AllPro?

Does anyone have insider information into the auto insurance industry? I'd been hesitant to contact insurance, because I'm not sure the dollar amount to replace the cat is worth the risk of rising premiums.

Oh boy, not here too. This shit happened all the time back in Hawaii. The recycling places there don’t even make you show ID or write anything down

First (and only) warning on the politics talk.

You can talk about the shitty situation all you want, and/or help the guy find solutions, but please follow the CoC.

To prevent this in the future, I’d like to go with some CBI skids, but there’s a 6 week lead time, does anyone know where to get them faster?

I never mentioned political party affiliation. Does this site have a problem with advocating punishment for criminal activity?

Also, I was a victim of cat theft. Had the cats cut off my 2020 in broad daylight. I advocated people vote for laws punishing theft. This is Truck related, cost me $500 deductible.

No, but the way your response was written would indicate that voting would be the way to change our current trend of being lenient on criminals. That alone picks a lane for bickering to start. I didn't throw the hammer at you because it wasn't pointed, but I'm making it clear that you have to be careful in that arena.

All pro has a 10% sale right now and get another 10% on top of that when you sign up for their newsletter. You don't have to stick with an all pro front skid but I went with their aluminum skid with my all pro steel bumper and couldn't be happier.

Wife says it’s a comp claim. It shouldn’t make your insurance go up.

I called my insurance, anything over $500 will raise my premiums. I think I’ll claim $475.

It just occurred to me that I could possibly move my cat to a serial configuration and to just behind the muffler and possibly put a custom plate to protect them—instead of the full blown tranny skid, which I doubt I’ll ever need...

Depends on the state regs where you live

I don’t follow why the regs would matter if I have the same number of cats...but maybe I’m missing something?

Some states don’t allow exhaust modifications.

They make a clamp on device that “locks” your cat and keeps it from getting stolen (don’t ask me how it works) I’ve lost 2 of them (Chicago, steaming cesspool of shitty people) One I replaced, the other I welded in a connector pipe with a threaded bung for the O2 sensor. Attached a right angle fitting to the bung, put in a brand new sensor and never had a CEL after that. Also never had my cat stolen again

I've heard of cat theft in the past but it didn't seem to happen around here (Dallas, TX) until a few weeks ago. A neighbor posted a note on the neighborhood site saying their cat was stolen from their Honda Odyssey.. The vehicle was parked out in the open in an apartment lot.
