    Good morning folks,

I just got my first Tacoma about a month ago, 2020 TRD OR, and now I'm ready to lift it.

My plan, which is based off a friend's build, is to use the Toytec Boss lift with SPC Adjustable Upper Control Arms and the "add a leaf" spring kit for the rear.

For wheels, I am going with the SCS F5 17"x8.5" (-10mm offset).

And for tires, I want Nitto Ridge Grapplers. This is where I'm looking for some input. On my friend's build, he used 275/70/17 BFG All-Terrain T/A on SCS (-10mm) wheels. So I know that I can use this size tire with these wheels and the toytec lift on my vehicle without rubbing or trimming.

The problem is that Ridge Grapplers do not come in this size. They jump from 265/70/17 to 285/70/17. And I'd prefer to go up in size rather than down. I know the easy answer is to find different tires, but I'm pretty partial to those Ridge Grapplers.

Yes, I have used search function on this website and others to lookup other threads about the subject. And from what I can tell, the 285 size range is where rubbing may or may not begin, requiring trimming or modifying. I see some posts where people say no rub at this size, and other threads where people say it does rub and they have had to trim.

So, my question is this.....Does anyone have experience with this setup or something very similar? And did you have to trim or modify?

    Thank you!

If this helps any, I am running 17x9 -12 offset and I rub a little still on plastic. I have done the CMC before I put the tires on so not sure if you'll have to worry about that rubbing.

I'm not sure I understand the "I'd prefer to go up in size rather than down" part of your post. 265/70/17 is about an inch bigger than stock so either way you'll be going up a tire size compared to stock.

I see what you're saying. I guess it would have made more sense if I just said that I would prefer to use the larger of the two options if it would still fit.
