Anyone put a jeep bumper on a Tacoma? Its bs that Amazon has about 15, some from top names, for under $300! I feel like buying one that looks the best and then just refabing it not only to fit, but aesthetically. Anyone tried anything like this? Amazon Prime free shipping Warn winch bumper with bull bar $150. I know it sounds hoakie but some of us are counting our pennies and still trying to have nice toys lol

If you are able to weld and have some fabrication experience, you might be able to make it work. If not, I wouldn’t even bother.

It would be all about whether the frame mounts line up Or how hard it would be to fab it to line up. I haven't really gone out and pulled the tape measure on it yet that's why I was asking if anybody else has done something like this. GED... Git Er Done!

Aesthetics, safety, suitability would lead me to say this is not a good idea.

Link doesn't work, but sure you could, might look a little akward but you could make it work, width would be the most important thing, and if you have a welder and any decent fab skills you can add wings and such to get it to "blend" in. Of course I've seen a good number of bumpers made directly for the Tacoma that look like utter ass too so...

I got a scratch and dent (had one minor 1/4" size chip in the paint) ARB bumper for a 12-15 that I put on my 10, I had to trim it a little and build my own mounting brackets but it's entirely possible to "graft" a wrong bumper to your truck, it's all just steel and steel can be cut and welded easy.

You can't tell it's not for mine unless you get right up on it.

I considered getting a Jeep rear bumper and again making my own mounts until I got a heck of a deal on a used tire carrier bumper from a member here.

Diligently lurk on craigslist and the classifieds here and be willing to be patient you can look like big money on the cheep, hardly anything on my truck was bought new, and most things bought new were discounted from a group buy.

Probably doesn't have faith in welding that wasn't done by a shop that holds accountability, also he may be referring to how the ARB bumper still maintains the airbag rating and has its own crumple zones.

As a Certified Welding Inspector (in training) and a NDT technician I can tell you I found faults in all professional welding.

It's almost a game I play with myself, how many discontinuities can I find in one finished product.

Even the welding on our frames from the factory leaves much to be desired. But there's a difference between perfect and good enough, that's why code allows for a certain level of discontinuity.

If you're gonna fab a jeep bumper to fit a tacoma, it would sound like you know how to weld. Why not just make your own bumper?

I would imagine it is. I know nothing about welding, I can barely solder. But isn't making a jeep bumper fit a tacoma an equally painful ass penatration?

Jeep accessories are cheaper without question, but cheap bumpers are cheap bumpers.

What do you need the bumper for? Looks, winch, approach angle etc.

I am pretty confident that a small fender bender will mostly do cosmetic damage and not something more serious. I dislike cheap bull bars that really make a mess of some expensive parts for that reason.
