I went from an 07 TRD OR to a 17 Pro and never looked back.

Sold the 07 with ~85k miles for $20k about 4yrs ago. I don't think you'll regret the upgrade as long as the finances make sense.

I went from an 09 to 21 and I felt it was a significant upgrade.

The re-sale value on any Tacoma is at an all time high, so now would be the best time to sell your '07 and buy a 3rd gen.

If you plan on keeping the '07 or selling/giving to someone close to you, then take your time and test drive a few to see if it's what you want!

As much as I love my 2016 OR I probably wouldn't sell a 2007 if I had it, permitting it had 4WD. If anything I would add a better head unit, better speakers, and possibly a back up camera if the tailgate was as tall as a 2016.

All that being said though I really do love my 3rd gen. It's comfortable, has decent tech, reliable, looks great, easy to work on. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Yeah, I would sell an old truck for $20k as that's significant money but for $10k I'd keep it, somewhere in there is that over/under but OP has some parking trouble with two vehicles. So, best case might be listing for sale at 16k and let the market decide.

I'd hold off another year or two and see what the 2022 or 2023 Tacoma offering is. Your current Taco won't go down much in value over the next 2 years. Start a sinking fund now and pay cash for a new one.

Yea, I was 50% genuinely curious about his issues, 50% wondering if it was BS. We'll wait a few more days and see if he replies.

I’d still be driving my 06 4Runner if it wasn’t starting to have signs of a head gasket failure. I like the Tacoma better because it fits my needs/wants more at this point, but I would have kept driving the T4R had I trusted it had significant life left before major repairs. If it’s not broke...Then again YOLO.

I sold my 06 Sport and bought a new 19, glad I did, its a nice upgrade if you can afford it. Mine even though it only has 9K miles now, hasnt had any troubles. Make sure you fully test drive a new one to see if you like the trans and to make sure it doesnt vibrate.

Sorry everyone, god forbid I don't check the forum every 10 minutes..... The door jam issue is someone else.
Anyway, HVAC mode door didn't work, air blows out of all the vents no matter what "mode" is selected on the knob. Transmission problems (6MT); sounds like there's something loose when in neutral/with the clutch in, the sound is almost a ringing sound which makes me think flywheel, but I notice it mostly on rough roads which makes me think driveshaft...dealer says its normal. Most recently, Occasionally 4HI won't engage unless I drive forward and then reverse a little bit which is odd being that it's a shift-on-the-fly transfer case I should be able to put it in 4HI as needed driving down the road, maybe something is up with the actuator. I'm going to crawl under there and make sure there's nothing obvious before taking it in. Overall just not super impressed with the build quality of this truck which sucks because I actually really like the truck. Who knows though, maybe mine was a friday afternoon or monday morning truck.

Sorry to hear about your issues. It sounds like your truck might have been built in the mist of the pandemic. Seriously, if they were short staffed etc. that might have affected quality.
