Been lurking for a while now doing as much research as possible before my purchase 11 months from now. I've had leased sedans the last 10 years and I'm tired of borrowing my father truck. I'm more of a practical person so a sedan has been more of a need for commuting than a truck. I live in north east PA on the literal PA/NY/ NJ border. I rarely if ever go offroad except for the occasional outing to a hunting cabin. This truck will be more of a commuter/homeowner maintenance vehicle. Going from near 39mpg to 14-20ish will be a challenge but I'm sure I'll get over that. I'm very hands on and work in IT so I can take care of most things myself. I'm also fairly mechanically inclined since my father passes down his mechanical knowledge to me. I'll be modifying the truck mostly for aesthetics and ride quality. First mod will be front end PPF then suspension lift and wheels/tires. So far I've found this group to be very knowledgeable, compassionate, somewhat reasonable lol, and fun. Looks for me with the banana avatar!

Yeah, I know. Thing is the road up here are horrible especially in the winter. All my vehicles in the past have been peppered with paint chips and basically sand blasted. I'd like to keep the paint looking fairly nice as long as possible.

I went from sedans that got low 20mpgs and dedicated tow vehicle to a Taco that gets high teens mpgs and have been extremely happy. All the offroading I've done and plan to do could be handled by a Subaru. But for the poor quality roads in my area, I find the softer OR suspension and high profile tires to be more comfortable, and I always have my truck with me so any trip to the hardware/garden/big box store is easily handled. It's the swiss army knife of vehicles.

Oh lol, Paint Protection Film. https://www.xpel.com/shop/paint-protection-film/ultimate-plus

They have pre-cut kits you can buy directly if you brave enough to install yourself. I'll be taking mine to an installer. It is expensive but worth it to me personally.

I thought about it when I first got a new taco but ultimately ended up not doing it because of the money
