Fox 2.5 Adjustment Measurement request.

Over the past couple of days I've read a whole bunch of articles from the @AccuTune Offroad website about King vs Fox and different spring rates etc.

Today I bit the bullet hard and bought Fox

880-06-418 DSC shocks to replace my Bilstein 5100 and 887 springs I'm worried about being my "weak link".

Before I install the Fox 2.5's I would like to do the gross adjustment with them off the truck compressed then back them off if necessary when installed and need to know;

What is the maximum I can preload the Fox springs for maximum lift and weight capacity without coil bind or over stress?

As I understand it I can measure from the top of the threaded body and or count the exposed threads? I want these to net me at least as much lift if not more than my 5100's with 887's on the second notch. I know I'll need a fair amount of pre-load as I have quite a bit of armour. The 590lb 887 coils carry it okay so I should be able to manage with the Fox 600lbs this trip until I can get 14" 650-700lbs in and installed down the road.

What is the (generally speaking I understand it's different for every truck) 3" lift "setting" for these mamma-jammas?

If you have Fox 2.5's what's your thread measurements?

If you have the DSC's what are good daily and play settings for the dampeners?

Sorry when it comes to mid travel I'm pretty freaking new, but I did try ro find my answers before starting a new thread.

i have fox 2.5's RR.. 1- 5/8 in. of threads showing on my pro..about 2 in. of lift...i originally had 2 1/4 in. threads showing before install, but after install front was too high, probably 3 in. lift. i backed mine off till level, and i also have a 1 in. rear block..

 

For anyone wondering I called Fox today, super easy and quick service, they told me 1 3/4" was the max recommend exposed thread above the spring ring.

So for my weight and preference for a stiffer ride I went ahead and set them there ensuring the unlocking screw was facing where I could loosen it so if I decide I need to I can back the preload off from there rather than trying to add more under tension.

From my experience we generally add about 2in of preload on the heavier trucks, often times you will need to play with it a little depending on your preference of height but thats a good starting point and it is easy to lower the truck from there.
