I'm enjoying the TRD Sport thread, so why not a PRO thread!

Waiting on my Pro, should arrive in November.

Was between the pro and an offroad, fully loaded. Knew that I wanted the advanced tech package in particular. MSRP was roughly $3500 difference on an OR fully spec'd and the PRO which is "fully spec'd" as a standard. Was able to get the PRO at MSRP with a really great offer for my trade in. In my area, most dealerships aren't letting any Tacoma at the TRD Sport/OR trim level and above walk out for below MSRP except for the corporate Toyota incentives.

While I do plan to do some off-roading in it, I'm realistic in saying 85%+ of my time driving will be on city/highway for the foreseeable future. The pro has several upgrades to the OR that are nice to have, and I'd rather sink $3500 in the present for factory warrantied upgrades than have to find places to do the upgrades down the line, as most welding/fabrication/modification is out of my own scope of knowledge and ability, in addition to paying upfront for those upgrades as you get them. I figure I'd pay more than $3500 for all those upgrades by including parts and labor, and in getting the pro I get all my tech/comfort upgrades that were "must haves" for me. Loved the PRO when I test drove it -- loved the sound of the cat back, loved the feel of the ride, and of course cabin.

Almost took home the white Pro on the lot that I test drove (and if it would have been MGM, I for sure would have), but my wife talked me in to waiting for the Lunar Rock-- I gotta admit my wife was right to tell me that every time I see that color on the Rav4's out and about, I stop and look at it and mention it. We bought a 2019 Rav4 last year that I dodged lunar rock on because I had never seen it in person yet and wasn't sure about it. Now that I've seen the Ravs out in the wild with it, I love it. In my area, the color is still fairly rare but I do double takes at it every time and love it.

I bought a Pro because I know TW hates Pros. But mostly it was for the color (bought 2020 AG Pro last October). Additionally, the price difference between a fully-loaded OR and Pro seemed reasonable for the additional parts and I wasn't interested in doing full blown suspension upgrades as I have a dedicated trail rig already.

I don't know. These categories seem like they were chosen by a Pro hater.

From what I have seen and heard....

Loved the Pro look, wheels, grill, suspension, badges, colors.

Did not want to modify for modest OR/camping.

    Liked the luxury trim, features.

    2020 Army Green TRD Pro
I planned on replacing my 2004 Tacoma Extra Cab OR in Mid 2020 when I planned to retire (for the 2d and last time). The 2020 would become my daily driver and the vehicle that we used to chase the hot air balloon pilots we crew for, sometimes into difficult terrain. We also live on a dirt road in a rural area so having a truck that can handle ruts, snow and mud was a must. My original thought was to load out an OR or Sport because I also wanted the technology and the comfort upgrades. What originally got me looking at the Pro was the color - Army Green perfect for a retired Army guy. I knew that, at my age and inclination I wasn't going to be doing any heavy mod suspension upgrades so the Pros suspension was a plus. I was ultimately able to get what I felt was a fair deal on a 2020 AG Pro grabbed it. No regrets. I love the truck.

Not a Pro hater at all. I was trying for a little self-deprecating humor since TW tends to hate on the Pro so hard.

But my path to a Pro is similar to others. I knew I wanted an MT, but I spent weeks going through the Build My Toyota options and I always ended up just a few K away from the Pro... And I was left with "I know it's stupid, but I really love the skewp"

(too much smokey and the bandit/knight rider/mad max as a kid, I suppose).

Plus I really wanted the retro grill, add a couple hundred for that and the TSS crap. and I knew I was going to upgrade the shocks (another couple hundred) the OR wheels do nothing for me (another couple hundred). And then Lunar Rock was announced.

So when I did all the maths, the Pro was everything I wanted with a full warranty. The only thing I'd rather not have is leather seats. But everything else, right. Moon roof, grill, skewp, shocks, etc.

If they had been doing the 0% for 60 when I bought my loaded sport earlier this year I would have. The pro was not included in the promotion. So I put the pro wheels on it, next best thing for daily driving. Lol

There was a lunar rock at my dealer this week, they only wanted 49 for it. I can't say I wasnt tempted, despite being an already shitty month for finances.

The only way I could pry myself out of that drivers seat was to tell myself that I don't need a moon roof. Especially one that's located outside of my peripheral vision when I'm looking down the road.

AG looks the best to me as a pro than other models. No chrome Toyota badges on the doors, no chrome V6 badge on the tailgate. Also, I like having all the features the truck has to offer. Building an OR to have everything to match the pro puts it in the price range of the pro, so why not buy a pro, bro?

Also, I've driven a lifted truck with 35's, I don't miss that MPG...

Where are people paying these prices? Mine was right at $48k - out the door with PA taxes and fees took it to $50.7k. That included Predator Steps, black tailgate letters, power tailgate lock, bed lighting kit, bed mat, door sill protectors, and mudguards.
