Simply b/c I wanted to drive manual. My other toy is an auto. Oh and I think a manual is easier to work on than auto.

Because I like driving and driving an automatic is barely driving. Because life is short and if you don't have fun while you're getting from one place to the next, then you are missing out on a lot of your life.

For me, as someone w/ adhd, is it gives me something to do and keeps me focused on what I am doing while driving. I think thats why I enjoy driving them. Like a more complicated fidget spinner :)

At this point it’s mostly Maintenance for me. I’m 40 now and all my vehicles but one have been manual. I’ve always done my own work on vehicles so at this point I’m pretty comfortable with most things manual trans related.

I love it! Drove mostly manuals over the last 35 years of driving and just enjoy it more. Keeps me engaged in the driving experience. Drove an Outback for the last 9 years that was an automatic - great car, but I missed the manual experience, so my new Taco is manual and I plan on keeping it a long time.

I washed it once or twice
They’re anti theft devices with this generation of kids.

I do a LOT of city driving with mine. I had to replace the clutch at 250k. Ha!

    It’s easier on the brakes.

Clutches are a cheaper fix than automatics transmissions.

To me it has nothing to do with the transmission.

It is all about the clutch being able to disconnect the drive train with the push of a pedal

I like downshifting. How long can you go on a set of brake pads??? I had a 1999 civic ex before my Tacoma. That was also a manual. I retired it in Feb of 2013. It still had the original pads and rotors.

That said, I'm amazed this thread didn't burn to the ground on page 1.

fast and tweaked automatics just don't ever do it for me. I'd rather be slow and engaged, which partly explains why the Tacoma.

There are many arguments that can be made. I really wanted my manual truck because I frequently tow light trailers, and cruise control in an automatic can be torture to an engine if it drops it down to second gear at 5000 RPMs. There is also the argument that you get more horsepower at the wheels because the drivetrain is more direct( no torque converter or additional clutches). Furthermore, it’s much easier to replace the clutch than the whole transmission when it gets to a higher mileage. These are all my reasons. I also was born to be a driver!

I really don't have a problem in traffic. But I've been driving a manual in terrible traffic for nearly 20 years. I think it's better in some ways. I turn traffic into a game of seeing if I can avoid pushing in the clutch and it become mildly entertaining.

I don't drink coffee, but I've never had a problem shifting and doing other things. Just wait until you are going straight to shift then it's a lot easier to hold the steering wheel and your coffee. Sometimes you have to slow down to avoid shifting, but so be it.
