    Hello everyone-
Found this site by googling auto-manual trans and 2wd-4wd swaps. I just picked up a 99 single cab prerunner in great shape mechanically and pretty solid cosmetically. Stole it at $1,500 with 210K on the clock. After throwing it on the 2 post and going from bumper to bumper, the ONLY thing it really needed was a catalytic converter. Someone had just installed all new front/rear brakes with new drums/rotors/calipers/wheel cylinders... Brand new rack and pinion.. Brand new starter and alternator.. Brand new radiator.. And brand new belts. I went ahead and cleaned the throttle body and put new NGK's in her as well as installing a receiver hitch/wiring. Truck is bone stock with the big 2.7 in her. Currently it has an automatic and as mentioned, it is 2wd. I have just begun to research the process of possibly going from auto to manual with T-case then at a later time throwing the front axle in. I've been in the automotive industry for almost 20 years now so this is not new to me.. I just have never tried to source second hand parts on a 1st gen Tacoma before. Definitely going to be doing a lot of reading and craigslist searching.

Here’s a rough list of what you need for a 4x4 swap. It all bolts into the PreRunner frame.

This assumes you keep automatic, and use manual hubs and a j-shift transfer case.
