Greetings, Taco brethren and sistren! I'm about to retire my '07 Rav4 V6 (@145K miles), in order to buy my first Taco!

I've been doing research for a few weeks, figured it was time to officially join the forums. Here's my thought process so far.

Looking for a daily driver that is dirt worthy, will do a few mild adventures a year plus towing, no hardcore offroading (not planned, anyway!). I'm price conscious but not looking for a project, so I'm thinking new or a couple years old (less than 100K, preferably less than 50K). Seems to be a lot of inventory between 33-40K in that range, and I am deal hunting. I live in the burbs today, but I am planning on buying a small plot in the country in the next 2-4 years so rural driving is somewhere in my future.

Narrowed it down to a SR5 or TRD Sport (v6 4x4 because reasons). The Offroad/Pro trims are more than I need, and I don't want bells & whistles of the Limited. I have 20+ years in software design... which has turned me into a 'tech package minimalist' as I've seen too much sausage being made! 0-0 I'm torn about MT - I grew up on manuals, but as I'm getting older, and having driven automatics for some time, it feels like it could be a real chore for daily use. Ego says GO FOR IT, practicality says pick your battles. \_o_/ I'm thinking of re-gearing whatever I get, as that seems to be an essential mod for any sort of driving.

I'll be posting questions elsewhere, just thought I'd share where I'm at in my journey.

    Thanks for being here, Tacommunity!
