    Hey All,

Recently picked up a 2015 Taco after my 1994 4Runner was rear-ended and totaled. I usually keep cars for a couple decades.

61,k miles and in pretty good shape. The 4.0 with 6 speeds is quite a bit different from the 4Runner's 3.no and 5 speed. Cruising on I-80 (NorCal) is a breeze now.

Has a couple issues so I'll be searching in the maintenance/garage/gotta fix my damn truck forums.

    Cheers, Kurt

What issues does your truck have? Maybe we can point you in the right direction.

Yea, I knew that was coming. Have to get my lazy ass out front and take a couple picts.

Gunshot-6A mentioned issues so here goes. Only 1 that really bugs me. Occasionally truck won't start. About two or three times a week. Cranks like a racehorse but no firing. Turn off ignition. Turn it back on and try to start. Sometimes yes, sometimes takes 20 - 30 tries. I have an Innova OBD2 code reader. No trouble codes. I figured maybe the code reader is inop. I disconnected the mass air flow sensor, the throttle position sensor and the camshaft position sensors. Got all the appropriate codes.

The guy before me had an Intoxalock (DUI blow in the tube thing) installed. The install/removal place used those evil wire tap splice connectors. I removed those and installed butt splice crimp connectors. No joy. Disconnected and removed ECM to see if there were any wires I missed. Couldn't find any more wiring that was altered.

Engine has never died once it is running. Only has the no-start issue. It has happened both with engine cold and hot/warm (off for about 10-20 minutes).

Now thinking of wiring in some indicators to see what is/is not getting power. Spark, fuel pump, throttle? Maybe I can narrow it down a bit. Also wondering if ignition cranking circuit is not providing power. Also hard to diagnose as I'm usually the only one in the truck.

    Any ideas?
