I went on an offroad trail adventure in NH "Jericho mountain state park" 4x4 green trail. this past weekend... I got back to the parking lot, my locker was still engaged.. I was in a turn and hear the tires grabbing, and reminded me to turn off the locker.. I hit the switch, and figured I needed to go forward, and backwards 5-8ft fwd, and revers a few times.. couldnt get it to disengage. figured I'd just shut off the truck, and then see about airing up my tires, and deal with it after.

shut the truck off for a few, checked the truck for damage (none), and pulled out my viair 88p, and started up the truck, popped the hood, and hooked up, aired up, shut off the truck, put away my stuff, and then got back in started up, and the locker indicator light was out... 4lo disengage easily as always..

is there a trick I'm missing on getting the stock OR locker to disengage... my go to for locker/t-case engagement issues is always to rock the truck forwards, or backwards 6-10ft each way.. and typically that works..

It's just bound up. Going straight forward and backwards won't always work as you need to turn a bit one direction or the other to relieve the mesh. That's the trick, it has to be unbound enough that the little spring can return the locking clutch.

And with the locker design compared to other designs the spring cannot be that stiff because the force from the solenoid is not that high. It just needs finesse sometimes.
