And I literally can’t see any damage at all. Older model Ford truck behind me tried to slam on the brakes and didn’t make it in time. His truck was pretty low, and from the looks of it, my hitch receiver made contact with his metal bumper. Nice dent in his bumper, but I can’t even find a scratch on my truck.

My question is, are there less obvious places I should check for possible damage?

    Reverse sensors all work?

I'm not an expert but I would look at the gap between the bed and the cab. I would think a suddle bend in the frame would show there.

It looks like you made it out ok.

Where the hitch attaches to the frame underneath.

I would check the bolts where the bumper bolts onto the frame and check for any broken /cracked welds. Other than that, sounds like doofus got the worst of it.

Did you get his insurance information? The appropriate action here is to file a claim with his insurance, take your vehicle to the body shop of your choice to be evaluated, and if there is no damage then you are good to go. Even if you didn't get his insurance I would bring it to the body shop of your choice and just have them look it over. Contact with the hitch can often lead to frame damage even when there is no other visible damage to the vehicle.

I got rear ended by an Escalade a little over a month ago... I was sitting at a red light when he hit me.

Ended up with almost $4K worth of damage. (In Canuckistan dollhairs)

Big reason it cost so much was that the hitch receiver got bent.

Good thoughts. I will check all of that. I did get the other drivers license and insurance info.

Check if the bed is still flush with the cab. When I got rear ended the bed bent away from the cab. Truck was totaled out.

Definitely agree here, and like other said, check where your receiver mounts, and the frame rails behind (or in front technically) it, for any cracked welds (you'll see paint flaking). And the bed/cab gaps, frame damage is irreversible, don't sign off on it until you're positive cause the insurance won't want to pay out for a new truck that's for sure.

My wife got side swiped by a lifted jeep last winter. They exchanged info, it was pouring rain. The Jeep had no damage because it was his tires that hit. Since there was no police report, he denied the account and there was nothing we could do.
