Problems with 2020 Taco data USB and carplay

Hey folks,
I've been having some issues with the data usb port in my new taco. Regardless of the cable, the port seems to delay accepting my iphone 11 for carplay, and sometimes doesn't at all. Tried it with a brand new cable to rule that out. It seems to work most consistently when I plug my phone in before I start the truck. I have also used the port with a 128gb 'thumb drive' loaded with music, and this has worked consistently, albeit with a 10-20 second delay at startup (probably due to the size of the drive). Weird. . . any thoughts?
